Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required for a permanent, full time role in Hengrove, Bristol – BS14. Our client is a company specialising in intelligent and sustainable packaging technologies for pharmaceutical and food industries.

£51,000 - £57,000 per annum, depending on experience

37.5 hrs a week with flexible working hours

25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays – increasing to 28 after 5 years’ service

Ample free parking on site or easily accessible by public transport

About the role

Take responsibility for all the mechanical aspects of project work

Produce parts lists, assembly drawings and detail drawings.

Document and archive all project related material.

Provide assistance to assembly personnel during the build phase of a project and assisting in commissioning.

Make occasional visits to both UK and international destinations as necessitated by the customer project or development project requirements.

Attend specification meetings with customers and provide authoritative contribution regarding the mechanical design aspects of projects.

Carry out risk assessments on machinery and assemblies of machinery.

Advise on mechanical Health and Safety aspects of the product range.

Attend project meetings and update the Project Managers on engineering progress.

Liaise with all departments to ensure projects are completed on time and to budget.

The right candidate

Degree qualified in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Integrated) Minimum HNC

Experienced in the design of electro-mechanical mechanisms and equipment.

Confident to take the technical lead in a team on occasional larger projects.

Knowledge of the machinery directive and UKCA/CE marking.

Advanced 3D modelling skills (preferably Solid Works)

The ability to read and produce 2D production drawings applying GD&T as necessary

Able to perform confirmatory engineering calculations and analysis as required
