Senior Mechanical Project Manager

About the Role:

We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team, working across high-specification projects within thecommercial fit-out, data centre, pharmaceutical, and healthcare sectors. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex, technically demanding environments while ensuring commercial integrity and cost control from pre-construction through to final account.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the procurement and commercial management of M&E packages, ensuring compliance with project budgets and timelines.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage sub-contract agreements, with close attention to programme obligations, design responsibility, terms, and commercial risks.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis and maintain accurate financial forecasts across all project phases, including materials, sub-contractors, labour, and preliminaries.
  • Carry out commercial risk assessments specific to regulated environments, particularly in pharma and healthcare.
  • Prepare and present monthly cost/value reconciliations and commercial performance reports in line with company standards.
  • Manage and resolve variations, change orders, and claims, ensuring clear documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with operational teams to provide commercial advice, ensuring delivery aligns with both technical and budgetary expectations.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and pre-construction cost plans for upcoming projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners to support current and future opportunities.
  • Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives without compromising project quality or compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Services Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in M&E quantity surveying, ideally with exposure tocommercial fit-out, data centre, pharmaceutical, and/or healthcare projects.
  • Solid understanding of complex M&E systems and compliance within regulated environments.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Excellent commercial awareness and contract negotiation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and levels.
  • High attention to detail with a proactive and analytical mindset.
  • Confident managing multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
