As aMaintenance Fitter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production equipment. Your responsibilities will include performing mechanical repairs, carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance, and maintaining equipment records. You will work as part of a skilled maintenance team to contribute to a safe and efficient working environment and help drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of mechanical equipment, ensuring all work is performed to a high standard
  • Perform routine inspections and identify areas of potential concern to prevent equipment failures
  • Assist in the assembly and installation of new equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment specifications
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment to meet department goals and objectives
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including hazard identification and risk assessment

Requirements

  • HNC / HND Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Completed recognized apprenticeship in mechanical craft engineering is a critical requirement, 4-5 year of experience post apprenticeship
  • Proven experience as a maintenance fitter or technician in an industrial setting
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using a range of hand and power tools. Experience with hydraulic systems, welding and fabrication procedures. Experience with high-speed rotating equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance activities
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance strategies and systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Flexible and willingness to work on-call or out of hours when necessary. Current Rota includes working one weekend out of five
