About the role

 

At our Kerry site in Omagh, we specialise in suppling various brands with products like ice creams, cream and its alternatives, custards, and yoghurt beverages.

 

We currently have a vacancy for a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer, working a rotating 8-hour shift pattern, 5 days per week across days, evenings, nights and weekends, to support planned and reactive maintenance across manufacturing plant.

What will I be doing?

 

  • Contribute to the timely and effective maintenance of all plant and equipment, as required.
  • Ensure, as directed, that all auxiliary services (i.e. steam, air, water etc.) plant, equipment and distribution systems are maintained in a proper and efficient manner.
  • Carry out methodical and effective diagnostic procedures and fault rectification to electrical control panels and systems as necessary.
  • Respond to callouts as and when required, on a rota basis, to ensure continuity of engineering support to the factory.
  • Apply a professional work ethic, so that breakdowns and planned maintenance activities are attended to promptly and seen through to satisfactory completion.
  • Ensure that a safe working environment for self, work colleagues and equipment is always maintained and apply good house-keeping skills.
  • Assist in the effective monitoring and control of spares stock control system.
  • Carry out any other duties including production operations, within the constraints of ability and training, as and when required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including company Health & Safety Policy and the Equal Opportunities Policy
  • This task list is not exclusive or exhaustive and may be added to or deleted from as required to meet the changing needs of the business.
  • Attend off site training when required.
What do I need to be successful?

 

In Kerry we understand that people have very different career trajectories and experiences. In order to be successful in this role, we would be looking for the right competencies and aptitudes as well as your proven track record of success in a similar role and environment.

 

These include:

 

  • Relevant NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification/recognized time Electrical served apprenticeship OR Relevant NVQ Level 3 Mechanical engineering qualification/Mechanical recognized time served apprenticeship.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ post qualification experience working as a technician within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written, numerical and verbal skills.
  • Good ICT ability.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Mechanical and Electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to read mechanical and wiring drawings and diagrams.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with PLC controlled applications in an industrial setting.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to be successful in a changing environment.
  • Ability to build relationships with, coach, and influence stakeholders and colleagues.
