Main Duties

  • Machining & welding

  • Reacting to mechanical breakdowns

  • Planning & undertaking scheduled maintenance

  • responding to breakdowns quicky & efficiently

  • Fault diagnosis & repair

  • Accurate record keeping

  • Ability to work on/ with; Machining (milling & lathe), basic welding, pumps (diaphragm/ vain), Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Clutches, Chains, Belts, Bearing and small gear boxes

    Requirements

    Qualifications

  • 5 or more GCSE's at grades A-C (must include English, Mathematics & Science)

  • Time served mechanical apprentice (essential)

  • HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (desirable)

    Skills/ Experience

  • Counterbalance forklift license (desirable)

  • Experience within a BRC Certified workplace (desirable)

  • Experience responding to breakdowns and completing fault diagnosis

  • Hands on approach

  • Self motivated and able to manage workload and conflicting priorities

  • Good attention to detail

  • Analytical skills

    Principal functions

    The role of Mechanical Engineer he role holder will work with a wider maintenance team and will be required to plan and undertake routine maintenance as well as being able to prioritise and respond to breakdowns. The role holder will work on a continental shift pattern
