RBH is the designated major acute andemergency hospital in Dorset housing the Eye Centre where the postsare mainly based, and Poole Hospital is the major planned carehospital. Bournemouth is a vibrantuniversity town attracting British and overseas students.Applicants will have a principal interest in glaucoma and will beexpected to contribute to the cataract and appropriate eyeemergency services. They should have a desire to teach and will beexpected to participate in clinical audit and governance.Enthusiasm to pursue clinical research is desirable. They will berequired to undertake management duties and work in amultidisciplinary team. Main duties of the job This is an excitingopportunity to join a forward-thinking department. We implement thelatest techniques to directly benefit patients. In the glaucomaservice, we routinely carry out trabeculectomies, tube operations –Baerveldt, Ahmed and MIGS procedures and modern glaucoma lasersincluding SLT, cyclodiode and endoscopic diode. There is expansionof the glaucoma service. We have an excellent network of supportiveglaucoma consultant colleagues throughout Wessex Deanery, theSouthwest Region and the major eye centres in the UK. You will beapplying to join a team of 13 consultants covering allsubspecialties, 3 associate specialists, 4 Trust grade doctors, and6 Wessex Deanery specialist registrars. Optometrists, Orthoptists,Nurse specialists, and technician specialists. Applicants mustalready be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of theinterview date have a certificate of completion of specialisttraining.
