Lab Technician(UK)


Responsibilities:


  • Perform laboratory tasks related to Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), including but not limited to:
  • Sample extraction (DNA extraction)
  • Library preparation
  • Hybridization
  • Sequencer operation
  • Perform laboratory tasks related to genotyping workflows, including:
  • Sample spotting and preparation
  • PCR amplification and optimization
  • Fluorescence-based detection and analysis
  • Carry out routine laboratory activities such as setup and maintenance of equipment, preparation of testing solutions, and daily cleaning and housekeeping activities.
  • Manage inventory, including:
  • Monitoring reagent and consumable stock levels
  • Timely restocking and procurement to avoid disruptions
  • Accurate tracking of stock movements, including in-stock and out-stock documentation


Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS):


  • Perform DNA extraction from various sample types with high accuracy.
  • Prepare libraries for sequencing, including quality control and quantification.
  • Conduct hybridization and enrichment procedures as required.
  • Operate sequencing platforms (e.g., Illumina, BGI) and ensure data quality control.



Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with NGS workflows, including library preparation and sequencing.
  • Preferred familiarity with genotyping techniques such as PCR and fluorescence detection.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate and convey technical information.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, including inventory management.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
