The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for adedicated and experienced Laboratory Support Service Lead to join our team in Macclesfield, UK . In this position, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of analytical laboratory support teams within defined areas of a major pharmaceutical research site. You'll not only oversee service delivery, health and safety, training, and compliance, but also take an active role as a dedicated trainer and provide hands-on operational support to the team when needed. This role is key to driving performance, ensuring continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of excellence across the team.

This role will be afull-time, permanent positionbased at a major pharmaceutical research and manufacturing site inMacclesfield. Working hours : Monday to Friday, core hours

The Team

You'll lead a team of 4-6 laboratory support staff within Avantor's Lab and Production Services (LPS) department. Working closely with other service leads, managers, and scientific stakeholders, you'll ensure high-quality service delivery and operational excellence across the site.

What we're looking for
A degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience working in a laboratory environment
Proven leadership capabilities with experience managing teams and driving performance
Strong understanding of laboratory operations, scientific processes, and compliance within GMP-regulated environments
Demonstrated knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in laboratory settings
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and familiarity with lean methodologies such as Kaizen and Tiered Daily Management
Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence

How you'll thrive and create an impact
Lead and manage a lab support team, overseeing daily operations, performance, and resource planning
Ensure compliance with health & safety, training, and documentation standards across service activities
Act as the main contact for lab services, resolving customer enquiries and maintaining service quality
Monitor and report on KPIs and SLAs, using metrics to drive continuous improvement
Collaborate with other service leads and stakeholders to share best practices and deliver consistent service
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and support cost-saving initiatives
