Department of Pharmacology, Mansfield Road, Oxford OX1 3QT Applications are invited for an experienced Laboratory Manager to join the Adaptive Decisions Lab (Principal Investigator: Dr Abhishek Banerjee). The post holder will manage a research project funded by the Wellcome Trust (2024-2032) that involves training mice on cognitive tasks and manipulating and imaging neural activity to reveal mechanisms underlying flexible cognition. Comparable experiments in animal models of neurological disorders and human cognitive experiments combining EEG in the lab will further amplify these findings. The applicant will be expected to contribute to various aspects of organising and managing the project and the lab, as well as provide guidance to the postdocs, research assistants, and DPhil students, working closely with the PI. While the job is based at Oxford, the lab works closely with Barts and the Queen Mary University of London, so it is critical to coordinate various aspects of the projects. The work will be carried out in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Oxford, in close collaboration with several groups in the Departments of Psychiatry, Experimental Psychology, and Physiology at Oxford and collaborators in ETH-Zürich, MIT, and London. Flexible working hours are possible.You should have:

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in natural sciences (Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Biology or a similar field) or hold (or be close to completion) a DPhil/PhD in a similar field Excellent written and spoken communication skills and good skills in IT/programming Proven management and organisational skills Team player and mentoring skills Independent and responsible with a high level of resilience and professionalism Creative solutions to problems using innovative methods (aids, software, tools) and effective decision-making

The following would also be beneficial to your application: Detailed knowledge of the workings of departments within the Oxford University and University policies and procedures. Basic knowledge of steps of animal experiments, managing animal licences (PIL/PPL), and recruitment of human participants for clinical studies The willingness and capability to learn about the research topics Basic knowledge of optics The post is offered at 0.2FTE on a fixed–term basis for three years (funded by the Wellcome Trust). Note that a less experienced candidate may be appointed at Grade 6 (£34,982 - £40,855 pa) with a commensurate adjustment in either the essential criteria, responsibilities or duties.
