Job Description:Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Associate or Associate Director to join our IP Disputes team in London to play a key role in our patent disputes practice, particularly within the life sciences sector. The role has arisen following a number of high profile partner arrivals in recent years and an increase in the team's life sciences patent litigation caseload.

The practice

Our IP Disputes team is known for acting in high profile, high value IP litigation with an international element. We are currently acting in patent matters relating to a range of technologies including small-molecule pharmaceuticals, therapeutic antibodies and other biopharmaceuticals, telecommunications systems, electronics, and industrial chemicals.

We act for leading brands in the life sciences, digital business, retail & consumer, transport & automotive, and energy sectors. Our sector-focussed approach ensures that we have valuable expertise in the areas in which our clients operate and deep understanding of the issues that they face.

The team

Our IP Disputes team is led by Arty Rajendra and this role will work closely with Will James, Tim Harris, Trevor Crosse, and Arty on patent matters. The London IP Disputes team is currently made up of 6 Partners, 2 Associate Directors, 3 Senior Associates, 7 Associates, 2 Trainee Solicitors, 4 Paralegals and 1 Formalities Assistant. The London team also works closely with colleagues in the Bristol IP team.

Technical skills and experience

You will have gained broad knowledge and experience of patent disputes at a firm with a well-regarded patents practice. Experience of disputes in the life sciences sector is essential to the role and previous qualifications in biochemistry, biology, or similar areas is also essential. Due to the highly technical nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to hire a Senior Associate or an Associate Director.

Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career, this provides you with:

  • clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress;
  • high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure;
  • thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues;
  • robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you;
  • reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
