HVAC Project Manager

Location: London/North London

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum (DOE)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday 8 till 5pm

About the Role

My client currently has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HVAC Project Manager to join their team. This is an exciting and varied role where you will take ownership of projects from survey to handover, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will be responsible for overseeing a diverse portfolio of projects, including air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation, often managing several at the same time.

Our clients span a wide range of sectors—offices, schools, universities, hospitals, petrochemical facilities, stadiums, data centres, and pharmaceutical sites—across London and the M25 region.

The role involves limited on-site project management. Instead, your focus will be on mobilizing new sites, revisiting locations to ensure works are completed to the required standards, conducting site surveys, and managing project coordination from the office.

What You’ll Do

  • Work closely with pricing and design teams to define project scope and client expectations.
  • Conduct site visits and initial surveys for all scopes of work for HVAC projects ranging from £5k to £1 million.
  • Prepare project documentation including plans, schedules, timelines, and RAMS.
  • Manage project changes, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder communication.
  • Oversee procurement of project materials and ensure timely delivery to site.
  • Lead and allocate resources, including subcontractors, ensuring strong third-party engagement.
  • Monitor budgets, track project progress, and provide status updates.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee site-based engineers and subcontractors, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Inspect and prepare work for client handover.
  • Conduct client reviews and project handovers.

Who We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Project Manager, managing budgets ranging from £5K to £1M.
  • Come from an HVAC or Refrigeration tools background.
  • Prince2 or other recognised Project Management Qualification desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (DBS check required).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and engage teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong commercial awareness and project planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Resilient, problem-solving mindset with experience in conflict management.

SALARY & PACKAGE

  • £60/65k DOE
  • Company car
  • 23 Days holiday + bank holidays, birthday day off every year & long service awards
  • Enhanced sick pay
  • Cycle to work scheme & bike-to-work benefits
  • Health cash plans
  • Referral programme
  • Enhanced maternity & paternity leave
  • Sabbatical

How Many Biotechnology Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Biotech Job?

If you are trying to break into biotechnology or progress your career, it can feel like the list of tools you are expected to know is endless. One job advert asks for PCR, another mentions cell culture, another lists bioinformatics pipelines, automation platforms or GMP systems. LinkedIn makes it worse, with people sharing long skills lists that make you wonder if you are already behind. Here is the reality most biotech employers will not say out loud: they are not hiring you because you know every tool. They are hiring you because you understand biological systems, can work accurately and safely, follow protocols, interpret results and contribute reliably to a team. Tools matter, but only when they support those outcomes. So how many biotechnology tools do you actually need to know to get a job? The answer depends on the role you are targeting, but for most job seekers it is far fewer than you think. This article breaks down what employers really expect, which tools are essential, which are role-specific, and how to focus your learning so you look employable rather than overwhelmed.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Biotechnology Job Applications (UK Guide)

Hiring managers in biotechnology do not start by reading your CV word for word. They scan for credibility, relevance and risk. In a regulated, evidence-driven sector like biotech, the first question is simple: is this person safe, competent and genuinely capable of contributing in this environment? Whether you are applying for roles in research, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, clinical, bioinformatics or commercial biotech, the strongest applications make the right signals obvious in the first 10–20 seconds. This in-depth guide explains exactly what hiring managers in UK biotechnology look for first, how they assess CVs, cover letters and portfolios, and why capable candidates are often rejected. Use it as a practical checklist before you apply.
