Job Description

Our client is a corporately owned practice seeking an experienced Head RVN to join their dedicated team.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week, with some weekend shifts at a nearby flagship hospital.

The practice is a small animal first opinion clinic with a loyal and growing client base. The team includes experienced RVNs and receptionists who work together to manage a varied caseload while prioritising patient care and continuous professional development. All OOH services are provided by a nearby hospital, where CT and MRI facilities are available.

The Head RVN will take a leading role in clinical operations, including delivering nurse consultations, supporting surgical procedures, managing admissions and discharges, and overseeing patient monitoring and care. They will be responsible for maintaining high standards of clinical compliance, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and overseeing stock control and equipment readiness.

This leadership position also includes supporting the development of the nursing team through clinical coaching, promoting nurse-led consultations and Schedule 3 procedures, and facilitating effective communication within the team. The Head RVN will work closely with the Lead Vet to ensure smooth daily operations and high-quality clinical outcomes.

The ideal candidate will be a confident RCVS-registered nurse with previous leadership experience, strong organisational skills, and a passion for coaching and supporting others. A proactive approach to delivering excellent patient and client care is essential.

The practice is equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, and full in-house lab facilities including a microscope, urinalysis machine, haematology, and biochemistry analysers. Located on a charming high street, the practice enjoys a village feel while benefiting from close links to additional hospital-level support.
