We are looking for a Head of Natural Resources MidCorp and Cat Risk (m/f), based in London or Munich. Reporting to the Global Head of Natural Resources, you will be responsible for the management, portfolio steering and growth of the Natural Resources MidCorp business.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Ensure an effective underwriting and approval process for business that exceeds local underwriting authority.
  • Monitor a consistent underwriting Governance framework for Natural Resources by implementing guidelines, principles and best practices.
  • Provide training, guidance and support to underwriters.
  • In conjunction with Global Lob Head, Global Product Leaders and regional teams, develop and execute underwriting strategy and risk appetite for Natural Resources MidCorp.
  • Identify market opportunities, target segments and clients by conduction qualitative analysis, management of LoB portfolio incl. profitability analysis (e.g. trades, distribution channels).
  • Steer the Natural Resources Midcorp portfolio to drive achievement of financial targets including use of reinsurance solutions.
  • In conjunction with regional LoB heads and global product leaders, steer the prioritisation of transaction activity to optimise portfolio.
  • Proactively liaising with Regional MDs, functional areas and other relevant parties to review performance of end to end Underwriting life cycle.
  • Research information on competitive trends, product line trends, producer trends and external environment, including legal, economic, demographic and distribution trends.
  • Recommend new and revised products and programs, underwriting standards and procedures, and provide guidance on pricing within the regions; Drive development and implementation of pricing tools.
  • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business.
  • Positively represent Natural Resources MidCorp, within the Allianz Commercial and externally to the market.
  • Expand the global offering across new regions/countries
  • Cooperate closely with the Allianz Commercial Nat Cat Management team and CFO risk management to ensure Natural Resources is aligned with the overall Nat Cat and accumulation control strategy and that Natural Resources values are correctly reported and reflected.
  • Develop Nat Cat underwriting tools and reports specific for Natural Resources both to enable portfolio steering and to support the Underwriting process.
  • Run Catastrophe loss modelling reports and prepare regular and ad-hoc data extracts and reports for the monitoring of Allianz Commercial Natural Resources global loss potential - including portfolio analyses, CAT limit monitoring, supporting global business steering and providing input to ensure adequate Reinsurance protection.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

  • Preferably degree in Business Administration, Engineer, Economics, or comparable discipline.
  • Ideally completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII).
  • Excellent ability to manage international project teams effectively to successful conclusion, without direct managerial authority. Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven track record in interacting and providing direction to multi-discipline teams (underwriting, pricing, legal, claims, business analysis).
  • Successful track record in project management, process design and improvement.
  • Strategic planning skills with the ability to develop, implement and communicate strategies to address important trends or changes in the business.
  • Knowledge of Natural Resources products, coverages, underwriting practices, pricing processes and sales distribution channels.
  • Experience in the development and data-driven calibrations of pricing tools and cat modelling review or calibration.
  • Experience working in complex, global matrix organization.
  • Outstanding analytical skills.
  • Ability to integrate AI-driven insights into your work to optimize outcomes and support broader organizational goals.
  • Flexible attitude, strong team player aligned with Allianz’s culture of diversity and inclusion.
