About the Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering & Maintenance and as a leader for Sanofi, you will play an integral role within the Site Engineering Management Team, ensuring safe, compliant, efficient and maintenance of Clean Utilities and Sustainability Programs to enable manufacture and supply our products to our patients.
The multiple national award-winning Sanofi Waterford biopharmaceutical and medical device campus is located in Waterford on Ireland’s southeast coast. Established in 2001 and now with more than 900 employees, the site has seen more than €600m invested in state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology. Diversification continues to bring new products to Waterford and the expanded site portfolio continues to create new opportunities.
Key responsibilities
Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation and maintenance of Clean Utility systems
Lead the sites cross-functional sustainability program to deliver Sanofi’s Planet Care targets for CO2, Energy, Water, Waste, and Biodiversity
Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality within the clean utility systems​
​Manage the department budget for clean utilities and Manage budgets related to utilities consumption, conservation projects, and sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities to drive cost savings through energy efficiency and water reduction
Develop and lead a continuous improvement program that will result in cost savings
Build Engineering problem solving capability to ensure reliable utilities supply to manufacturing
Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with cGMP and Safety standards
Monitor the level of GMP compliance on an on-going basis through audit, preventative maintenance, work orders and GMP document reviews
As asset owner, ensure Long Term Asset Planning is deployed and action based on evaluation (modify repair, refurbish, or replace) integrated as part of site Capex Portfolio
Provide strong management and control of equipment vendors and maintenance contractors
Develop and improve the effectiveness of training on a regular basis
About You
To excel in this role, you will need to have:
Essential requirements:
Higher level Engineering Degree or equivalent
Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Engineering Manager/other Management role
Minimum 3 years' experience managing clean utilities and sustainability in pharmaceutical environment
Technical knowledge of relevant clean utilities system, energy technologies and other site facilities
Detailed knowledge of cGMP, utilities and energy management
Excellent interpersonal skills – active listener
Good problem solving and analytical skills
Effective facilitator
Influences site KPI’s
Full understanding of Health & Safety and legal requirements
Demonstrated experience of working in Clean Utilities and Facilities Management environment
Problem Solving/Continuous Improvement methodologies and Data Analytics
Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies implementation
It would be advantageous to have
Engineering & Maintenance Manager within pharmaceutical environment
Stakeholder relationship management across site and global engineering
Managing clean utilities and other facilities in an integrated facilities management
