The Finance Manager is responsible for all aspects of the finance function, developing the finance team and driving process improvement and maintaining the integrity of the Accounting System to ensure financial viability of the business. The Finance Manager will be reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and be responsible for managing a small finance team.

- Prepare the monthly finance reports with review and analysis commentary

- Complete month-end tasks including balance sheet review and reconciliations

- Prepare quarterly and annual statutory reports by end of the quarter/year

- Enhance and prepare the billing process for our First-in-Human (phase 1) and Site

- Build and lead a team of 2-3 accountants

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

Secure Profitable Growth

Represents Veritus Research in a professional, courteous, and competent manner at all times

Develop strong and productive relationships with key stakeholders (including bankers, auditors & tax accountants, government agencies, etc.)

Use financial data to develop and present insights to improve the business' operations and performance, including revenue generation, cost management and business processes.

Assist the CFO to review investment proposals and make recommendations consistent with the company's operational and strategic objectives

Have full oversight of Profit & Loss (P&L) development and forecasting as well as Balance Sheet (BS) items – creating transparency and clear line-of-sight of business performance

Stable Processes

Manage all day-to-day challenges that impact the finance team

Ensure adherence of financial/accounting principles, procedures and practices in line with legal and corporate requirements.

Manage the month end close incl. BS reconciliations and reporting process required timelines.

Assist with the preparation of the Annual Financial Report in accordance with legislative standards

Develop strong relationships with key customers to ensure credit control and cash-flow management

Manage the debt collection process and ensure that debtor days are managed in line with objectives

Assist with the group quarterly rolling forecast in accordance with the business strategy

Robust Reporting

Provide the CFO with monthly updates of the following:

Flash finance report by the beginning of each month the following month

Detailed finance report with analysis and commentary by mid of the following month

Monthly cash-flow reporting to ensure cash optimisation

Identify suitable reporting tools to streamline financial reporting

Ensure that all financial records and reports comply with legislative standards and requirements

Manage all statutory compliance and taxation matters incl. GST, PAYG, payroll tax & income tax

Understand and adhere to requirements of various regulatory bodies, agencies & frameworks

Ensure statutory compliance and corporate governance requirements are met

Set and track OKRs continuously – for own position and the Finance team

Engaging Training

Provide mentoring and leadership to develop a high-performing finance team.

Attend meetings applicable to your role, or send a delegate, to promote communication and a smooth implementation of new processes within the site

Inspiring Culture

Collaborate with other teams to identify process improvement opportunities

Contribute to senior leadership discussions and remain solution focused

Promote and maintain our exceptional collaborative, supportive and friendly culture

Assume other responsibilities as directed by the CFO

Lead & mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous learning & collaboration

Lead recruitment procedures for the employment of new staff

Set up a comprehensive induction program for new team members

Clearly communicate expectations to the staff

Ensure oversight of 1:1s with staff and performance review processes

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

At least 4-5 years' experience as a Senior Accountant or Finance Manager in a medium-large business environment or as a Management Consultant having worked in the big four in finance consulting / CFO services

A degree in Finance or Commerce and CPA/CA qualifications or working towards it.

Exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate and manage stakeholders at all levels

Working with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management

Prior experience in:

preparing statutory financial statements

dealing with high-volume transactions

working within a small team of accountants

complex billing and credit control

Strong analytical skills (incl. complex Excel modelling) is a must

Experience in finance within the Healthcare Industry would be advantageous
