We are currently working with a leading supplier of robotics and automation solutions to a global customer base.
The technologies have been adopted by many of the worlds leading companies within Laboratory Automation and Manufacturing Automation, including pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer healthcare, chemical, life sciences, aerospace and automotive.
Core Role
The business is rapidly growing and adding an additional Field Service Engineer to the team.
In this role, youll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and calibrating automation equipment to ensure it meets both our standards and customer expectations.
The ideal candidate has experience with measuring tools, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of machine components.
This position also requires travel to customer sites to provide on-site support for both re-active and pro-active visits.
WhatYoullBeDoing:
AttendcustomersitesacrosstheUKandinternationallyforinstallation,commissioning,serviceandsupport.
ExecuteFATtestingpriortodispatchattheUKfacility.
ExecuteSATatcustomersites.
Serve as the first point of contact for issue handling, diagnosis, and communication with customers for automation systems.
Perform preventative maintenance on customer systems to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshoot, upgrade, and calibrate automation instruments and robotics with precision.
Commission devices and robotic systems, conducting quality control to meet specific customer requirements.
Utilize hands-on mechanical and electrical debugging skills, including root cause analysis and knowledge of machine components.
Maintain clear, accurate, and concise updates in the customer support management system for tracking issues and customer communications.
Resolve issues through back-office support (phone, email, or remote connection) or on-site visits, adhering to service level agreements.
Follow up with customers after resolving issues to ensure satisfaction and high service standards.
Provide end-to-end resolution in a customer-facing 1st and/or 2nd line technical support role.
Adapt to varying customer needs, job requirements, and changing workloads effectively.
WhatYoullNeed:
Minimum HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with relevant hands-on experience in electrical, instrumentation, or automation roles may be considered in place of formal qualifications.
At least 5 years in a field service or customer-facing technical field service role.
Proficient in maintaining and servicing instrumentation or devices, with an electrical or mechanical focus.
Experience in the operation and maintenance automation systems is a plus.
Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of robotic systems, including ABB, Staubli, UR, and Brooks models.
