A Day in the Life

Join us as a Field Clinical Engineer and immerse yourself in an exhilarating role where you will engage with cutting-edge technology, specifically implantable cardiac devices, across both pre- and post-market trials. In this role, you will support the Operating Unit of Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) and oversee several research centers within UK & I. As a key player, you will drive the clinical trial execution for the CRM at the site level, acting as an extension of our study teams based in Maastricht (Netherlands) while navigating the local landscape.

This position demands a blend of clinical and technical proficiency, ideally suited to those with experience in the cardiac catheter laboratory. You will interact with diverse stakeholders, proactively managing site performance and nurturing robust clinical research partnerships with leading hospitals across UK&I. Integrated in the Global Field Clinical and Medical Science Organization and based in UK&I, your role encompasses nationwide coverage, with occasional travel to other European countries to provide technical support. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Provide technical assistance and act as a bridge between engineering and the medical community, especially during clinical trials involving complex products
Manage all aspects of pre-market and post-market clinical research studies, including investigator identification, site nomination, protocol & study trainings, protocol compliance, enrolment encouragement, and data quality assurance
Be present during initial implants and relevant clinical procedures to understand product interactions with the human body and facilitate data collection and patient testing
Assist in evaluating new product concepts and modifying existing devices, providing feedback from clinical sites to enhance product performance
Develop and maintain relationships with clinical sites to understand physician interests and capabilities, drive clinical activity while serving as a local technical and clinical resource for Medtronic and customers
Educate, train and/or mentor internal clinical research talents, customers, clinical staff and sales partners in technology
Lead major programs, function in a project leadership role, communicate effectively with various levels of internal and external customers, and represent the organization as a primary contact in their given territory for clinical study enrolments and follow-ups
Required Knowledge and Experience:
University Masters or Bachelor's degree Clinical or Biomedical engineering or other relevant fields (Technical, etc.)
Experience in the medical device industry in clinical research departments as a clinical specialist, field clinical engineer, sales representative roles, cardio nurse or cardio physiologist
Experience collaborating with cross functional clinical partners/customers, physicians and/or medical sales colleagues in the healthcare industry
Cardiovascular or Cardiac rhythm management device training (e.g., pacemakers and defibrillators)
Driving License
