Entry Level Process Safety Consultant
Location: Based from our Southampton Office, SO16 7NS (Future remote working possible)
Salary: £30,000 - £37,980 per annum (depending on experience) + bonus, excellent benefits!
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

DEKRA is seeking an Entry Level Process Safety Consultant or Process Safety Consultant to join our growing team in Southampton.
This is an incredibly exciting and unique opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or a professional with up to 4 years of relevant experience who is keen to build a career in the diverse and high-impact world of Process Safety.
You’ll be joining a supportive team of specialists and working hands-on from the outset, contributing to a broad range of projects across the process industries – from chemical and manufacturing to energy and pharmaceuticals.
As part of our Process Safety Consulting Team, you will support and deliver studies in areas such as DSEAR, HAZOP, LOPA, OBRA, COMAH, and more.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and scribing for Process Hazard Analysis studies including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and SWIFT.
  • Supporting quantitative assessments such as QRA, OBRA, and FTA.
  • Contributing to Safety Reports and Safety Cases, particularly within COMAH regulations.
  • Developing fire and explosion risk assessments (e.g., DSEAR).
  • Supporting simple relief and vent sizing studies.
  • Producing clear, high-quality technical reports, presentations, and whitepapers.
  • Assisting with workshop logistics and technical preparation to support project delivery.
  • Taking part in the development of internal methodologies, tools and training materials.
    What we’re looking for:
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or other relevant engineering disciplines.
  • No prior Process Safety experience required – this is an ideal first role in the field.
  • Alternatively, 2–4 years of relevant industry experience and a desire to move into Process Safety.
  • A proactive, organised, and detail-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn, take responsibility, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
