POSITION SCOPE

To provide support for electrical, control & instrumentation systems for new and existing process plant and packing equipment at Plaistow Wharf. This includes design work, contractor supervision, hands on commissioning, upgrading, and maintaining control systems, implementing control systems for new capital projects and fault finding on control systems and instrumentation loops.

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities

Replace, upgrade and maintain electrical, control and instrumentation, hardware and software whilst ensuring site operations perform to the optimum level
Design of PLC control systems and control cabling systems
Evaluate changes/upgrades to process control systems and make recommendations for continuous improvement
Contribute to the definition of standards for the development and maintenance of process control systems within the site
Communicate with all levels of site personnel to ensure understanding of changes to the control systems
Provide specialist electrical knowledge and design, implement and commission electrical works
Provide where necessary LT/HT support for the site following the appropriate training and assessment
Deputises for site electrical responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance and assist with operational requirements when required
Participate in capital projects at all stages of implementation through to commissioning
Focus on continuous improvement and quality improvement as required
Carry out plant isolations
Administer SAP maintenance input for EC&I maintenance activities
Management of Engineering contracts
Managing contractors and issuing permits and TBRA’s
Other tasks as required

Plaistow Wharf based with occasional work at Thames Refinery.

Essential Education Requirements

HNC/NVQ 4 or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.
