As an experienced Ecotoxicologist as part of a Science & Regulatory Team for a globally recognised company, you will play a key role in increasing company knowledge in the field of ecotoxicology and enabling the implementation of a proactive and global environmental work programme.

As a PhD level ecotoxicologist you will support in the design and management of the ecotoxicology work programme to build the knowledge base on the environmental fate and toxicity of substances. With continuous improvement and knowledge base of the company’s field of expertise, you will be expected to take on more responsibilities and identify and lead on addressing emerging issues within the environment with respect to ecotoxicology.


Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders to promote the development of proportionate and scientifically robust regulatory policy and legislation with the goal to protect and grow the market for our target area.
  • To identify and provide support to the principal lead on scientific and regulatory issues relating to the environmental toxicology / ecotoxicology.
  • To support with the management of the environmental toxicology research programme.
  • Participate actively in internal meetings umbrella industry groups e.g. Environmental Research Associations (MERA).
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with a range of stakeholders including at scientific conferences, e.g., Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC).
  • Initiating, implementing, and communicating regular updates of environmental projects.
  • Applying working knowledge of EU REACH and EU CLP/GHS to provide technical input, project initiation and management, liaison, and support for Chemical Registration related matters globally.
  • Maintain a global perspective on hazards and risks by helping to respond to environmental enquiries relevant substances in all regions.

Qualifications Skills and Experience

  • PhD in Environmental Toxicology or Ecotoxicology or closely related relevant discipline
  • Some commercial (preferred) work experience in a relevant role - ecotoxicology, chemicals management or environmental toxicology
  • Knowledge and experience of working in metals ecotoxicology. – desirable
  • Knowledge of EU and global regulatory processes and procedures, particularly REACH and CLP.
  • Excellent ability to build strong relationships and establish credibility.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, including the ability to explain complex science in simple terms.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (additional languages are beneficial).
  • IT literate with strong numeracy skills.
  • REMOTE BASE BUT - Occasional travel -Europe and the south East of the UK
