Accrington (commutable from Manchester, Blackburn and surrounding areas)
Salary - £32,000 - £38,000 (depending on experience)

SRG is working with a leading manufacturer of industrial chemicals and materials. Based in the Accrington area, they have recently started hiring for a new member of their R&D team. This opportunity would suit someone with previous industrial chemicals laboratory experience either from a previous job or placement year. The company has a great track record of staff retention and upskilling of employees. If successful you will be joining a large team of highly skilled scientists with opportunities for progression.

Role Description

Ensuring raw materials and intermediates are fit for purpose for pilot plant and full scale experiments
New product development of advanced material products
Safe handling of potentially hazardous chemicals. Conducting risk assessments and adhering to safety data sheets
Working closely with customers to ensure products meet specifications and deadlines
Solving a diverse set of problems relating to new product development
Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to investigate potential issues and provide technical support where necessary
Requirements

Degree in Chemistry with a focus on industrial or inorganic chemistry
Significant recent experience in and R&D role in a relevant industry (polymers, coatings, metallurgy, inorganic synthesis)
Ability to travel or relocate to the Accrington area
A strong understanding of analytical and physical testing techniques
Full right to work in the UK.
