Job summary
The Dental Skills Lab Technician is responsible for supporting the educational activities within the dental skills laboratory. This role involves the preparation, maintenance, and organization of the dental lab, ensuring all equipment and materials are ready for use by students and faculty. The technician will also provide technical assistance during training sessions and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Main duties of the job
To provide both dental and specialist technical support relating to educational technology including phantom head and dental skills resources.
The post holder is required to assist in the effective and efficient delivery of technical and administrative support to the dental Tutors & faculty.
Dental Technician (DT) is also responsible for the set up and safe operation of the Dental Skills lab, Dental equipment and kit and audiovisual equipment.
Dental Technician plays an integral role within the team to identify areas of development. An example of the work DT has done for this include:
1. Organising the storage facilities for all educational kit, for all education teams in the trust.
2. Designing, creating and utilising new 'pulpotomy teeth' used in dental training, which greatly increases the fidelity for trainees..
