Demonstrator in Engineering

Special conditions: £14.54 per direct teaching support

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a Laboratory demonstrator, who will be available to work throughout the academic year and will be paid on an hourly basis (up to a maximum of hours per annum).

In the Department of Engineering, we provide our students opportunities to gain knowledge and skills through laboratory and seminar sessions in the Engineering Building (Clifton campus). The students are studying a mixture of mechanical, electronics, biomedical and sport subjects. In order to ensure that we provide an excellent student experience we support these sessions with the use of demonstrators who offer support and advice to the students throughout the sessions. You will work under the direction of a module leader and other academics leading the session in delivering high quality demonstrating to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students. Duties will include assisting the academic staff in running the class – offering advice and support to students, liaising with technical staff and marking where required.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate ideas of a complex or technical nature to students effectively, as well as having sound engineering knowledge.

Closing date – 13 December

Interview date – Ongoing as required

For more details, please take a look at the role profile. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly.
