We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Data engineer to join our R&D IT team to design and own data publishing scenarios for our Bioinformatics Platform! You will collaborate with the platform team to design and establish data governance policies and procedures, while designing production-grade ETL processes to integrate data. Ensuring data FAIRness and integrity, including third-party bioinformatics tools and databases.
Establishing guard-rails and document best practices to support the data platform users, and drive platform adoption.

Qualifications

What we are looking for?
Awareness of the methods and standards in data engineering, DevOps practices and IT standards.
Strong programming skills, including Python and R.
Familiarity with Linux OS and Shell scripting.
Extensive experience in data orchestration spanning SQL and NoSQL databases.
Proficiency in cloud computing platforms and experience in modern data platform solutions (AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake).
Familiarity with workflow management systems (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake).
Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and data formats (e.g., FASTQ, BAM, VCF) and understanding of omics technologies.
Experience in the agriculture or other life sciences industry.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to lead development activities for a cross functional team.
