Chemring Energetics UK is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence and key commercial customers. An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Control Electrical Engineer to join our existing team.

Are you a skilled Control Electrical Engineer looking for a new opportunity? We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable professional to provide technical support for all site-wide control systems. This role involves developing a deep understanding of system operations and ensuring compliance with key safety and quality parameters.

As part of the Projects Team, you will contribute to the development of new control systems, ensuring the best technical solutions for process optimisation. You will also play a key role in the commissioning of new and improved plant and equipment.

Key Accountabilities & Duties

  • Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed (using the Near Miss System) in accordance with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at work Act.
  • To create solutions for programmable equipment that will improve performance and output of the defined process.
  • Be responsible for maintaining all records where an intervention to a programmed outcome was necessary.
  • To provide technical support for the maintenance of all programmable and electrical systems across the business.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the safety legislation and current safety standards so that all systems across the site are legally compliant or identify those that require improvement and generate a plan to achieve this.
  • To provide details, including ladder logic, P & IDs, electrical schematics technical documents, specifications that support any changes or new equipment in line with company procedures e.g. Change Control.
  • To design, organise, support, advise and conduct safe trials and tests as required for any system or processes in support of trials or investigations, with analysis, conclusions and recommendations as appropriate.
  • To organise, instruct and support operational staff on the methods and steps to be followed when using any PLC controlled equipment for each plant/ area

The Candidate

  • Must have personal commitment to Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
  • Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and co-ordinate their resolution before they become an issue.
  • Continually seeks to identify new ideas and implement new opportunities, which deliver business benefit.
  • The ability to build and develop effective relationships and use these to improve performance.
  • Strong IT, communication and team working skills
  • Knowledge of the principles of company policy and operating procedures in order to ensure site and company compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Degree or relevant experience in
  • Electrical/Electronics/ Software
  • Engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge in PLC programming for a wide range of diverse systems
  • Project Management
  • Working knowledge of Machinery and Process Directives
  • Process design Review Experience
  • Knowledge of electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic/robotic systems
  • IT Skills (esp. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Commissioning of new and existing plant
  • Working within multi-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills
