Job Title: Consultant Respiratory

Department: Respiratory Medicine
Location: East Midlands

Position: Substantive Consultant (Full-time, Part-time, Flexible Working Available) – Will also consider fixed-term locum applicants
Hours: 10 sessions per week (with flexibility based on service needs)

Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum

Optima Plus Recruitment is seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant in Respiratory Medicine on behalf of a leading hospital in East Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to contribute to the continued development of respiratory medicine services, delivering high-quality patient care while being supported by a team of skilled professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties

  • Provide high-quality respiratory medicine services, ensuring excellent patient care.

  • Undertake outpatient and inpatient respiratory clinics, including subspecialty interests where appropriate.

  • Contribute to the delivery of a responsive and efficient respiratory service, including lung function tests, bronchoscopy, and pleural procedures.

  • Lead in the management of patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, lung cancer, and interstitial lung diseases.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with other departments to ensure integrated care.

    Teaching & Research

  • Support junior medical staff and actively engage in medical education and training.

  • Contribute to clinical research and service development projects where appropriate.

  • Encourage innovation in service delivery and maintain high standards in clinical governance.

    Essential Requirements:

  • GMC specialist registration or within six months of attaining a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview.

  • Demonstrable experience in respiratory medicine, including inpatient and outpatient management.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.

    Desirable Criteria:

  • Higher degree (MD/PhD) or equivalent academic qualifications.

  • Level 1 accreditation in thoracic ultrasound.

  • Experience in service improvement initiatives within respiratory medicine.

    Working Hours & Flexibility

  • Full-time, Part-time, and Flexible Working Options Available

  • Standard full-time commitment is 10 sessions per week (with flexibility based on service needs).
