This is a new post to meet growing demand in Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT and cross-sectional imaging. The appointee will form part of a wider group of radiologists providing general cross-sectional reporting with a range of subspecialist interests and add to a dynamic group providing Nuclear Medicine / PET/CT services which has multidisciplinary team members.

With the Molecular Imaging Centre and its cyclotron facility there are opportunities to engage in non FDG PET/CT reporting if the post holder can demonstrate relevant experience.

The appointees will undertake a session of acute body reporting. There will be involvement in clinico-radiological and MDT meetings.

The posts include supervision and training of the specialist registrars.

Main duties of the job

There will be a contribution to acute out of hours care. This will be either on the body/general rota at a frequency of approximately 1:13 with overnight outsourcing or on the non-vascular IR on call rota at a frequency of 1:8 with overnight call screening.

Work may take place across sites including Grimsby and there is the opportunity to work from home 1 day (or 2 sessions) per week.

They will be allocated office space / reporting area, workstation (Home workstation as required), secretarial support/ personal locker etc.

The posts could be tailored to suit alocum orless than full time role.

If an appointee is not a UK CCT holder, they will be expected to work towards CCT in clinical radiology via the CESR route within an agreed period. Progress towards this goal will be reviewed regularly.

Person specificationQualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in education or significant experience in post graduate training
  • Subspeciality competence in one or more: Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT
  • More than one subspeciality competence

Fitness To Practise

  • Full Registration with the GMC
  • GMC Specialist Registration (or expected inclusion within 6 months

Management and Administration Experience

  • Ability to manage and lead radiology teams.
  • Ability to lead on smooth and efficient running of the unit.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage high intensity workload
  • Ability to develop, present and operationalize coherent ideas for service development/ delivery

Teaching, Audit and Research

  • Experience of supervising junior medical staff
  • Commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs and medical students
  • Evidence of participation in audit Ability to extrapolate clinical research evidence to care for individual patients
  • Evidence of having conducted a practice-changing audit.
  • Experience of teaching/ training in clinical courses Original peer-reviewed research publications

Personal skills

  • Ability to work flexibly in a changing health service.
  • Excellent manner with patients, being sensitive to their needs and fears.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other health professionals and flex style as appropriate.
