Job summary
We are looking to appoint a whole time Consultant in Microbiology based at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT).
Pathology Services (including microbiology) are provided by South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology Services (SYBP) and hosted by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STHFT).
This post will expand the service at TRFT and the post holder will be part of the wider microbiology and virology team based in Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster and would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The person appointed will take their equal share in providing emergency cover and will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence. They will have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and the proper functioning of the Departments.

Qualifications
Essential
Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview. Name on the specialist register for Infectious Diseases and Microbiology or Medical Microbiology or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. FRCPath part 2 or equivalent qualification If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
