Your Role:

You’ll work directly with top-tier biopharma teams to deploy Helical’s platform and uncover novel biology using Bio Foundation Models. From single-cell to bulk and RNA-seq data, you’ll help drive real-world breakthroughs in target ID, patient stratification, and RNA sequence design.

This is a fast-paced, high-ownership role. You’ll prototype with the latest AI models, move from concept to insight in days, and work closely with product and engineering to shape what we build next.

If you want to operate at the frontier of AI x Bio — and turn cutting-edge models into real scientific impact — join the most advanced team in the space and help rewire drug discovery from the inside out.

Requirements:

Essential

  • MSc or PhD in Computational Biology or similar fields
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Hands-on experience with single-cell or bulk transcriptomic data
  • Experience or at least exposure to single-cell foundation models (e.g. Geneformer, scGPT)
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML tools (e.g. fine-tuning, …)
  • Strong grasp of computational biology methods and best practices
  • Excellent communicator — able to translate science across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Product-oriented mindset and eagerness to be customer-facing
  • Passion for the intersection of biology and machine learning
  • Obsessive about speed of iteration — you move extremely fast, learn what you don’t know on the fly, and never wait for perfect. This is the #1 criterion for joining Helical.

Nice to Have

  • Industry experience in biotech/pharma (internal or customer-facing) or strong contributions to open-source computational biology projects
  • Familiarity with Transformer architectures, SSMs, or Bayesian optimization
  • Experience working in therapeutic or diagnostic development programs

Our Perks:

Every employee is an co-owner of Helical and you will become a member of the founding team.

Super fast-growing team and company

Work closely with a team on the cutting edge of AI research.

Access to a supercomputer (partnership with luxProvide, part of NVIDIA’s inception program).

Access to a worldwide network of AI experts to learn from.

Office & Locations:

Helical has their main offices in London and Luxembourg. Aligning to one of both locations is mandatory.
