Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Commercial Leadership:Oversee the commercial management of construction projects, ensuring profitability, managing risk, and maximising value.
  • Contract Administration:Administer and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions, and proactively addressing any contractual issues that may arise.
  • Cost Control & Reporting:Develop and implement effective cost control measures, provide accurate and timely financial reporting, and manage project budgets to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
  • Stakeholder Management:Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring clear communication and collaborative working.
  • Team Leadership & Development:Lead, mentor, and develop a team of commercial staff, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Risk Management:Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong Academic Foundation:Degree educated or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
  • Professional Accreditation:MRICS or MCIOB accreditation is highly desirable.
  • Extensive Experience:Proven experience in a commercial management role within the construction industry, including experience managing large-scale projects.
  • Contractual Knowledge:In-depth knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
  • Leadership Skills:Proven ability to lead and manage a team, and to influence and negotiate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide sound commercial advice.
