COHE/Authorised person – Commercial – Central London

Our client is a large and well-established MEP Sub-Contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake major Mechanical & Electrical Packages on behalf of Tier:1 main contractors involved in ‘technology’ schemes including Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Semi-Conductor plants and heavy industrial projects.

Due to continued growth, our client is now seeking an experienced COHE/Authorised Person to join their team based on a Commercial build in Central London.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & Implement Safe‑Isolation Protocols
    Design and enforce site-wide lockout‑tagout (LOTO) and safe isolation procedures for all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and thermal systems in line with HSE best practices.

  • Conduct Energy Risk Assessments
    Perform detailed evaluations to identify hazardous energy sources and ensure appropriate control measures are in place before any maintenance or servicing begins.

  • Authorize & Supervise Isolation Activities
    Act as the designated Authorised Person responsible for executing and verifying isolation processes—ensuring systems are locked, tagged, and verified safe prior to work commencement.

  • Train Staff & Maintain Awareness
    Provide training for Authorised, Affected, and other personnel on LOTO procedures, energy hazards, and device usage—promoting a safety-first culture throughout the site.

  • Audit, Inspect & Investigate Compliance
    Regularly monitor and audit isolation activities, maintain accurate logs, investigate any incidents or near‑misses, and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.

    Requirements

    Must have relevant degree level qualification

    Must have 5+ years’ experience in a similar role

    Must have relevant safety qualification
