Clinical Research Fellow – Trust Doctor in Medicine

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team of clinical researchers conducting innovative clinical trials in neurology and general internal medicine. The successful candidate will play a key role as an investigator in drug development and clinical trials, ensuring the highest safety standards for participants while adhering to ethical and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Assessing suitability and obtaining consent for research.
Conducting comprehensive medical assessments, including neurological and physical examinations.
Contributing to data collection.
Supporting trials at the Bloomsbury campus in infectious diseases and cardiology.
Performing clinical procedures including lumbar puncture and intrathecal dosing of experimental medications with training.
Evaluating trial data and managing adverse events.
Ensuring informed patient consent.
Engaging with primary care GPs, sponsors, and research teams to ensure effective communication.
Responding to urgent medical queries and clinical emergencies in line with ALS RESUS council guidelines.
Facilitating regular emergency scenario readiness testing.

This role offers excellent experience for those pursuing specialty applications in neurology or medical specialties. The post holder will gain hands-on exposure to clinical trials, interact with leading experts at Queen Square, and participate in NHS specialty clinics and prestigious teaching opportunities like the Gower’s Round at NHNN.

Ideal candidates will have broad medical experience, especially in outpatient settings, and demonstrate clear communication skills with primary care providers. This role is perfect for those eager to develop expertise in clinical research and neurology within a vibrant academic environment.
