The Role Applications are invited for a talented and ambitious Clinical Research Associate to work within the Population Health Sciences Institute. Working with Professor Gillian Vance and Dr. Sarah Sowden, the post holder will contribute to various mixed methods projects on health inequalities and workforce development.
You will hold a degree in medicine and have research experience in healthcare inequalities and public health. Required skills and experience include:
Current or recent employment on the Specialised Foundation Programme, including postgraduate academic experience in a public health-related academic unit
Experience in research related to healthcare inequalities and workforce development
Designing and conducting qualitative data collection and analysis
Publication in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
Presenting research at academic conferences
Engaging with and presenting to stakeholders across partner organizations

Key Responsibilities Conduct high-quality applied health research within set timelines and standards.
Contribute to study design, data collection, organization, and analysis related to health inequalities and workforce development.
Ensure research activities comply with governance and data protection laws.
Present research progress and outcomes to principal investigators, colleagues, and at conferences.
Prepare publications and presentations for stakeholders and the Deep End network.
Engage in professional development activities.
Contribute to the research team and infrastructure activities.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including the public, to ensure research relevance.
Perform administrative duties as required.
Undertake teaching related to health inequalities and research methods.
Manage deadlines and priorities effectively.
Provide guidance to support staff and research students.
The Person: Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential
Current or recent employment on the Specialised Foundation Programme, with postgraduate experience in a public health academic setting
Research experience in public health, health, and care inequalities, especially workforce development
Knowledge of the North East and North Cumbria Deep End primary care network research
Experience presenting at academic conferences and publishing peer-reviewed articles
Skills in evidence synthesis, qualitative research, and analysis
Understanding of confidentiality principles in research
Flexibility and collaborative working skills
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills

Degree in medicine
