The role

Clifford Chance has an ambitious global strategy which puts clients at the very heart of everything the Firm does. Our Client & Market Development function ("C&MD") is pivotal in making the Firm strategy a reality.

In this role, you will be part of the C&MD team supporting Clifford Chance's Global Tax, Pensions, Employment, and Incentives (TPE) practice. This is a hands-on and proactive role where you will work directly with the London TPE practice based in London.

Clifford Chance has a truly global TPE practice with first-class capability and market leaders in their respective disciplines. Our Global tax practice delivers commercial advice across the full spectrum of international and domestic tax issues, while our experienced employment, incentives and pensions specialists work with clients across a range of sectors to address local and cross-border issues.

This role is business critical and is an opportunity for a business development professional to make a huge impact.

Who You Will Work With

You will work directly with the London TPE practice on their client and market development initiatives.

As part of the Global TPE C&MD team, you will work closely with TPE C&MD team members located across the globe. You will also interact with members of the wider Global C&MD team; the Brand, Communications and Marketing ("BC&M") team; the Knowledge & Thought Leadership ("KETL") team; and the Innovation & Best Delivery ("I&BD") team.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Revenue generation

Support the London TPE practice in implementing its C&MD plan and strategy
Work with the London TPE practice to develop/shape product offerings and initiatives
Position and promote London TPE product offerings and initiatives with the wider Global TPE practice and the firm more widely
Proactively spot market trends and opportunities for the London TPE practice across the UK and globally
Provide tailored input into significant London TPE-related pitches and capability statements

Reputation management and marketing communications (working with BC&M)

Assist in identifying opportunities to position and raise the profile of the London TPE practice and its individual lawyers
Lead in the organisation of London TPE-related client events, seminars and conferences, sponsorships, PR, etc.
Oversee multiple marketing communications projects, including the delivery of global directory/awards submissions

Client focus

Apply depth of TPE product knowledge to support client and sector programmes firmwide
Conduct competitor, client and marketplace analysis to identify new and emerging opportunities.

What You Will Do

This is a strategic role requiring a high-energy individual who will take the lead on the development of London TPE product offerings and successful delivery of TPE initiatives to support the growth of our London practice.

You will be responsible for the execution of targeted client development activity, across the London TPE practice.

Qualifications

Your experience

In order to perform this role successfully, the candidate will require:

Previous experience in professional services business development (preferably in a law firm)
An interest in and understanding of the work types covered by TPE in London
Sound commercial awareness of legal market development, particularly in relation to TPE work types
The ability to develop advisory relationships with partners
Strong project management and organisational skills
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Ability to work as part of a team and with lawyers of all seniority levels
Commitment to quality and attention to detail
A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline

How We Will Support You

From your first day with us, you will have varied opportunities to continuously grow and develop your skills and knowledge. From formal training, informal coaching and mentoring through to skills-based and technical training and on the job learning.

You will have the support and direction of the Client & Market Development Senior Manager - Global TPE. As your line manager, he will meet with you regularly to discuss both your professional and personal development objectives, supporting you in identifying the right opportunities. You will also be able to access a full suite of training via Clifford Chance's Academy portal.

Hybrid Working

This role follows our 'balanced' hybrid working approach and as long as business needs allow, you will be supported to work in a hybrid way with the expectation of working from the office for a minimum of 50% of your time.
