Chemistry PhD Graduate - Business Intelligence

Are you a recent science PhD graduate and have an interest in business intelligence and analytics? We are working with a materials company in Cambridge who is looking for a scientist to focus on business intelligence and patent analysis.

You will be supporting teams in the UK and the US by developing, and analysing comprehensive patent landscapes, monitoring and analysing competitor patent portfolios, and combining the outputs with other business analysis and intelligence.

Working alongside senior members of the Business Intelligence team, your main responsibilities will involve;

Developing patent search strategies and analyse results, either carrying out the searches or in collaboration with third party search companies and to clearly communicate the outputs in a manner appropriate to the audience to internal management, IP and technology scouting colleagues.
To arrange IP alerts, and analyse competitor IP developments, and communicate findings with internal stakeholders.
To support the team of Patent Engineers in the delivery of the IP Team objectives.
Maintain IP department software licenses and serve as the primary liaison between the IP team and external search providers.

To be considered for this exciting role you will need to have a good understanding of chemistry, or biochemistry and its applications within science and technology. Ideally the company are looking for a recent PhD graduate, but we are open to MSc/BSc level scientists who have prior IP experience. You will be performing detailed searches within a multidisciplinary team, so it is also important to have a great eye for detail and strong communication skills.
