Are you passionate about supporting those who care for someone with mental illness?

An exciting internal opportunity has arisen within Jami’s Carer and Family Service, where you can make a real difference to the lives of carers in our community.

This post is working 3 days per week

Role

We are looking for a compassionate and proactive team member to support carers through one-to-one sessions and group work. This role involves:

  • Delivering a high-quality, needs-led service for carers of people living with mental illness.
  • Carrying out assessments and offering personalised interventions.
  • Supporting carers via in-person meetings, phone calls, and video conferencing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide information, practical advice and emotional support to carers.
  • Support carers to reduce isolation and focus on their own well-being, including social, educational, and employment opportunities.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate carer support groups.
  • Work collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory organisations, signposting as needed.
  • Manage your own caseload and maintain accurate, up-to-date records using Jami’s cloud-based systems.
  • Use assessment tools such as SWEMWBS and IROC to evaluate the impact of support provided.
  • Maintain awareness of developments in mental health care and carer support.
  • Attend supervision, meetings and training as required.

Essential

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in mental health and/or social care.
  • Experience supporting carers and facilitating groups.
  • Strong assessment and caseload management skills.
  • Knowledge of recovery principles and the challenges faced by carers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills.
  • Ability to work holistically and collaboratively across services.

Desirable

  • Vocational or professional qualification in health or social care.
  • Personal or lived experience of mental health issues or being a carer.
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community and local resources.

  • You will be expected to work across localities and in the community, with flexible remote working via Zoom and MS Teams.
