Job Summary

FULL TIME POST - 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK

The Cellular Pathology Department has a vacancy for a Cancer Pathway Tracker/Admin Medical Laboratory Assistant to work full time hours supporting the Biomedical Scientists and Consultant Histopathologists.

The post-holder will monitor cancer pathway samples and facilitate their progress throughout the Cellular pathology department to ensure timely and efficient turnaround, liaising with Cancer services, Biomedical Scientists and Consultant Histopathologists. As this is a combined role the time will be split between this duty and an admin MLA role, whose main responsibilities include, archiving slides and blocks, answering phone calls and emails, preparing MDT's and general administrative tasks.You must possess good organisational skills and be able to work as part of a team as well as under your own initiative. The work is interesting and varied and the emphasis is on accuracy and attention to detail. Full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To update Cancer Services Pathology Escalation spreadsheet as appropriate, ensuring all relevant information is available for the PTL meetings.
General clerical duties associated with the work of the Laboratory, including filing, telephone answering, photocopying etc.
To ensure Pathology diagnostic tests have been correctly identified as "Cancer Pathway" and prioritised accordingly.
To work closely with cancer services and Cellular Pathology technical and clinical team.
To ensure office policy is adhered to, i.e. telephones answered promptly, queries dealt with promptly and being courteous at all times to all members of staff.
