Job Description In a nutshell:
Are you a driven leader with expertise in microbiology and a track record of successfully managing commercial operations? Do you thrive in dynamic environments where you can develop strategies, grow revenue, and inspire teams to achieve outstanding results? If so, this role might be perfect for you!
What team will I be part of?
You will be a key member of the senior leadership team for Food Chemistry and Microbiology Testing in the UK, reporting directly to the Cluster Director.
As a Business Unit Manager, you will:
Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow the microbiology business unit, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Lead the business unit’s financial performance, including full P&L accountability, budgeting, and cost control.
Drive operational excellence, ensuring the lab operates efficiently, complies with ISO 17025 standards, and maintains a strong focus on quality and safety.
Build and lead a high-performing team of approximately 50 employees, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, retention, and professional development.
Manage customer relationships by translating client needs into operational delivery, developing new methods, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Support cross-functional collaboration within the Eurofins network to identify and leverage business opportunities.
Act as a technical and commercial point of contact, working closely with customers to maintain satisfaction and foster growth.
Qualifications Are you our kind of extraordinary?
Background: Minimum of 6years of experience in a life sciences or laboratory testing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Proven track record in commercial strategy and growth.
Skills: Strong financial acumen (P&L), excellent leadership abilities, and a customer-focused approach to business operations. Experience with cross-selling and team development is a plus.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science-related field, preferably microbiology or a related life science.
Location: Based in Grimsby, UK, with flexibility to travel as needed to customer sites.
