We are on the lookout for a part-time lab assistant to help with a variety of cleaning duties in a hands-on, roll-your sleeves up and get stuck in role. You will be working with our growing R&D team in our Cambridge-based lab.


This role is well-suited to individuals who are familiar with repetitive cleaning tasks and take pride in their work, regardless of previous settings. You may have experience working as a kitchen porter, cleaner, or in a similar role requiring a focus on cleanliness, organisation, and attention to detail. No prior scientific or lab experience is required. What matters most is your enthusiasm, dedication, reliability, and willingness to support the team.

The Role: 

As a Lab Facilities Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our laboratory operations. In this part-time position (3 hours per day), you will help maintain a clean, organised, and efficient lab environment. You will be responsible for tasks such as cleaning equipment, disposing of waste, and ensuring the lab is safe and ready for work.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Cleanliness:Ensure that laboratory spaces remain clean and tidy by wiping down surfaces, organising equipment, and maintaining a clutter-free environment.
  • Equipment Cleaning:Wash and sterilise laboratory tools and glassware, following protocols to ensure they are ready for use.
  • Waste Management:Safely and properly dispose of biological, chemical, and general waste in accordance with regulations.
  • Stock Support:Monitor lab supplies and alert the team when restocking is needed.
  • Safety Compliance:Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a secure working environment.

  • Physical stamina to stand, lift, and perform manual tasks as required.

Our offer:

Up to 15 hours week. Hourly rate of £12/hour

Flexible working: Mornings or Lunchtimes (3 hour shifts)
