Job Title:Bioinformatician

Reports to:Head of Bioinformatics


About the role

A UK-based biotech is looking for a skilled Bioinformatician to support proteomics data analysis and interpretation, as part of a growing team delivering next-generation biomarker discovery and predictive modelling tools for precision medicine.


This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full lifecycle of clinical research projects – from study design through to publication and patent preparation – while working in close collaboration with wet-lab scientists, data scientists and software engineers. You’ll join a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment that values clear scientific thinking and practical problem-solving.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse proteomics datasets using an internal suite of computational tools
  • Develop and maintain statistical and machine learning methods to support biomarker discovery and validation
  • Collaborate with wet-lab and clinical teams to guide experimental design and interpret results
  • Build and maintain code that supports both research and translational efforts
  • Contribute to the development of tools aimed at deploying predictive signatures in clinical settings


Ideal Candidate

  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in a STEM discipline
  • 3 years experience with statistical or ML methods applied to high-dimensional biological data
  • 2 years experience in proteomic bioinformatics
  • Strong programming skills in R (Python/C++ a bonus)
  • Familiarity with biomarker discovery, LC-MS/MS data analysis, and experimental design
  • Comfortable working with complex multi-modal datasets in a collaborative research environment
  • Experience with phosphoproteomics data would be highly advantageous


Bonus experience

  • Experience in start-up, biotech or translational research settings
  • Cloud computing or regulated environment experience
  • Ability to clearly communicate results across disciplines
