Job Title:Backend Developer - Clinical AI Evaluation Platform

Location:Fully remote

Contract length:2-Months

Industry:Health tech / Pharmaceuticals / AI


We're looking for a seasoned Backend Developer to design and develop a robust benchmarking platform that evaluates LLMs in complex clinical trial scenarios for a pharmaceutical client. This platform will shape how pharmaceutical companies select and trust AI in regulated environments. This will involve leading the backend architecture and collaborating with AI engineers, data scientists, and pharma experts to build something that sets a new industry benchmark.

What you will be doing:

  • Design and develop scalable backend systems using FastAPI and MongoDB.
  • Build RESTful APIs, manage microservices, and design efficient data pipelines.
  • Integrate with major LLM providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) to support dynamic prompt generation, response parsing, and multi-turn interactions.
  • Orchestrate complex, multi-step evaluation workflows and automate scoring processes.
  • Implement robust file processing (CSV, Excel, SAS, PDF), async task handling, and performance monitoring.
  • Drive system reliability, error handling, and audit logging aligned with healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, etc.).

Core Tech Stack:

  • Languages:Python (pandas, numpy)
  • Frameworks:FastAPI, Async/Await patterns
  • Databases:MongoDB
  • DevOps:Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (preferred), Azure DevOps (CI/CD)
  • Monitoring:Redis, APM tools, Logging frameworks

What you will need to have:

  • 3-5+ years of backend software development experience.
  • Strong understanding of benchmarking, evaluation frameworks, and statistical performance metrics.
  • Experience handling healthcare or regulated industry data (CDISC, SDTM, ADaM is a plus).
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs and AI evaluation methodologies.
  • Solid foundation in cloud deployment, scalability, and secure infrastructure.

Bonus Points For:

  • Prior work on LLM or ML evaluation systems
  • Knowledge of clinical trial processes and reporting
  • Experience building data validation or quality assurance tools
