As both a designer and manufacturer, Transvac maintains full control over the design, raw material procurement, manufacturing, scheduling, and testing processes.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Buyer to join our busy Head Office in Alfreton, Derbyshire.
Responsibilities
As an Assistant Buyer, you will support the purchasing team in sourcing, procuring, and managing inventory to meet company needs. Working closely with suppliers, internal departments, and the Purchasing Manager, you will ensure timely, cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the procurement process from order creation to delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely reorders to prevent shortages.
  • Communicate with suppliers to find the best prices, quality and terms
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand purchasing requirements and ensure adequate supply.
  • Process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Build supplier relationahips
  • Maintain the company’s Approved Supplier List
  • Perform additional tasks as required, including assisting with Goods In, Dispatch, and Material Preparation for Production.
  • Participate in the annual stock take.
    Education & Experience Requirements
    1+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing (preferred but not required).
    1+ years experience in an administrative role (prefered but not essential)
    1+ years of experience in engineering (preferred but not required).
    Good communication skills.
    Good organizational and time management abilities.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with procurement software (e.g., Sage) is a plus.
    Good attention to detail with the ability to multitask effectively.
    Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
    Background in engineering is beneficial but not essential.
