Preparative Services

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled senior pharmacist to manage, deliver, evaluate and develop aseptic preparation and manufacture services at the Royal Hospital for Children Glasgow Aseptic Preparation Unit which is the largest one in Scotland. The successful post holder will provide expert pharmaceutical advice on the safe, clinical and cost-effective use of aseptic products to ensure optimal care of patients and with all relevant medicines legislation compliance.

The Royal Hospital for Children Aseptic Preparation Service exists to prepare and supply high quality intravenous and parenteral medicines tailored for individual patients where sterility of the product is required. This service is focused on high-risk products and adult and paediatric patients and includes parenteral nutrition, cytotoxic chemotherapy, CIVAS and biological agents. The RHCG Aseptic Preparation Unit is also a licensed aseptic production site and manufactures batches of CIVAS products under a MHRA MS Specials License with the successful applicant being the named Production Manager on the MHRA MS License. The RHC prepares approx. 40,000 aseptic products a year under Section 10 and manufactures approx. 10,000 CIVAS products under the MS licence.

The successful candidate will be required to have a Master’s Degree in Pharmacy,

Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council, a Post graduate diploma/MSc in PQTA or equivalent validated experience or qualification.

This is a full-time permanent post working 37 hours per week. It is worked Monday-Friday, and the post includes weekend working on a rota basis as well as participation in the on-call and public holiday rotas
