Job Description:

As anArea Manager of the Livestock, Poultry & Dairy (LPD) businessat IDEXX, you will be responsible for Bovine, Swine & Poultry, focusing on our main products Elisa & PCR. In the IDEXX LPD Business unit, the focus of testing lies in three main areas: testing for diseases (Regulatory born, monitoring, and discretionary testing), testing for the need for required levels of anti-biotics in Dairy products, and testing to forecast the production status of Dairy animals (Alertys).

IDEXX is growing rapidly and this is an exciting role to join the team with responsibility for the UK & Ireland. Laboratories, clinics, and veterinarians worldwide trust IDEXX diagnostic tests and technologies to make informed decisions about animal health. IDEXX tests, equipment, and software deliver reliable results in diagnosing over 50 of the major diseases in livestock and poultry.

The UK and Ireland territory will focus on testing for diseases in the Bovine, Swine & Poultry domain. The reasons for these tests could be regulatory, monitoring, and discretionary. Therefore, you will be handling existing accounts comprising Laboratories and veterinary clinics (both individual and chains) and dealing with government officials about testing programs. The territory manager will ensure that the full product portfolio of IDEXX is offered to its clients by building new and building on existing relationships. The most important direct and indirect clients are Laboratory managers, Veterinarians, and government officials.

The other key focus area of our sales strategy for this position is to make known the full range of the products IDEXX LPD offers by providing educational and informational tools and webinars about IDEXX Diagnostic Solutions to Livestock owners, through the existing laboratory and veterinary channels, so that the labs are offering and informing their clients of all the possibilities of the IDEXX portfolio to grow the business and create value.

You will be responsible for maintaining/building relationships with our existing customers as well as acquiring new business.

Translating the regional sales strategy into key accounts and Sales of your specific portfolio and having accountability for the commercial results.

Within this role, it is 60% travel (40% home office).

Day to day, you will be executing our sales strategy, identifying new opportunities/leads, and generating sales reports.

You’ll be working closely together with marketing field specialists and technical services to inform our existing and potential clients about the IDEXX experience and best practices in Disease management.

It’s important in this role to keep up to date with Governmental and Non-Governmental disease control and eradication programs.

What You Will Need to Succeed

Previous successful consultative sales and account management experience.

High comfort with both outbound and inbound sales activity, combining account strategy with attention to detail.

Strong communication skills including writing, listening, and questioning.

Strong business acumen.

An ability to speak and start relationships with C-level executives.

Strong skills in negotiation and leveraging to increase the business and increase the value for our customers and IDEXX.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport quickly, and build and maintain relationships.

Capability to absorb and articulate technical information about testing and testing programs.

Highly motivated and goal-oriented.

Strong organizational skills, especially in a multi-tasking environment and international matrixed organization.

Effective time management skills to ensure desired business outcomes.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Computer proficiency (CRM, Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook).

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

A background in veterinary, Dairy Farming, or a degree in any Life Sciences field would be a plus.

Fluency in business English is required, a second language would be advantageous.
