The Salary scale for this job is £105,504 - £139,882

This job attracts the following remuneration package for the successful external applicant:

We are looking for an enthusiastic consultant psychiatrist to join a well-established and experienced adult ADHD service which has been providing high-quality ADHD assessments and treatment since 2011.

We are a friendly and caring multidisciplinary team who support each other and would welcome the new skills and ideas any successful candidate would bring.

Main duties of the job

  • The role will focus on the assessment of patients for suitability for ADHD medication, assessment of comorbidities, initiation and titration of ADHD medications, and review of patients.
  • The team receives substantial referrals, but cases are allocated when patients reach the top of a waiting list.
  • The caseload consists of patients actively being seen for ADHD medication titration.
  • Providing some diagnostic assessments for Adult ADHD.
  • Managing complex cases requiring a consultant.
  • Providing clinical leadership of the team, including supervision of SAS doctors and NMPs, alongside other consultants.
  • Assessing referrals and admissions.
  • Developing care plans and treatment formulations, providing guidance on evidence-based treatment.
  • Collaborating with other services and agencies, especially primary care and ICB colleagues on ADHD prescribing matters.
  • Supporting the broader Neuropsychology service with leadership and advice, including supporting colleagues in the Autism Diagnostic Team.
  • Engaging in multidisciplinary, multi-agency, and partnership working.
  • Signposting patients with other mental health needs.

    About us

    The ADHD pathway of the Adult Autism and ADHD Service provides diagnostic assessments and medication management for adults with a Berkshire GP. We are a small but well-established team working across Berkshire, operating out of 25 Erleigh Road in Reading. We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist passionate about working with neurodivergent individuals, capable of autonomously prescribing medication and providing leadership and supervision within the team.

    We receive new referrals from GPs and other health professionals. Our pathways for diagnostic assessment and medication management are separate, with a focus on initiation, titration, and review of medication. Due to increased referral rates, we are looking for a candidate who can think critically and innovatively to improve our service.

    Our team is part of the Children, Families and All-Age directorate. Young people transition into our team from the Children and Young People's ADHD Service. We also maintain close working relationships with colleagues in Adult Mental Health. Our ADHD clients may access other services, such as CMHT or CHRTT, while receiving treatment from us.

    Qualifications

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Additional clinical qualifications.
