We have an exciting opportunity for an Applications and Innovation Chemist to join the newly established Application Innovation Team within Performance Chemicals, based at our Ellesmere Port site.

As an Applications and Innovation Chemist, you will support the development and testing of innovative technologies across a broad portfolio that includes Agrochemicals, Industrial, Personal Care, and Home Care. You will work closely with the Senior Scientist and Technical Manager to conduct experimental work, analyse results, and contribute to new product development. This position provides a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to cross-functional projects and develop your skills in applied chemistry, research design, and data analysis within a collaborative, innovation-driven team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experimental laboratory work as directed to support new product and technology development.
  • Collate, analyse, and communicate experimental and analytical results clearly and accurately.
  • Provide monthly updates on project work to scientists and technical managers.
  • Develop a working knowledge of product development across all Performance Chemicals divisions.
  • Build awareness of research tools, literature, and technical resources in specific application areas
  • Apply chemical understanding to design and develop meaningful laboratory tests to support projects.

Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong practical skills are essential and experience of working in an industrial laboratory environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods and data analysis is an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to develop and apply ideas.
  • Demonstrated interest in wider scientific fields and trends.
  • A good understanding of modern computer software.
  • Experience using programming languages or data acquisition tools is desirable.
