Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is looking for an Analytical Chemist to be based at Rocksavage, Runcorn, UK.

Main Purpose

To provide Medical Products manufacturing, packing operations and customers with a Quality Control analysis service so that process control, product quality, and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements are satisfied.

Main Responsibilities

  • To accurately analyse, validate and record results for samples from the medical products operation to ensure that production processes and final product quality is controlled within the agreed limits.

  • Organising delivery of QC test service to support 24/7 production plans and timescales.

  • To review and validate the analysis of the shift analysts in line with operating requirements.

  • Act as SME for training, mentoring and support of QC analysts.

  • Ensure QC laboratories are cGMP compliant, ensuring audit readiness, and all QC records are maintained for data integrity according to ALCOA principles.

  • Advise analysts on investigation of Out of Specification and atypical results, taking over complex investigations where required.

  • Deviations are investigated utilising root cause analysis tools and appropriate CAPA are implemented.

  • Ensure all sample, analysis and testing work is carried out in full compliance with cGMP and SHE standards.

  • Drive Continuous improvement activities.

  • Management and delivery of stability trials.

  • Management of laboratory consumables and stock levels to ensure constant laboratory support for production and packing operations.

  • Deputise for the Quality Control Team Leader with others to ensure there is always a point of contact for reference and escalation.

    Qualifications

    Minimum: HNC/HND Chemistry.

    Desirable: Degree in Chemistry or related subject.

    Knowledge/ Experience Required

  • Knowledge and experience of working to cGMP standards.

  • Understanding of QC in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Experience of working in a QC laboratory preferably one working to cGMP standards.
