Job Description - JOB TITLE: Research Associate -LOCATION: Oxford - CONTRACT – 12 months - SALARY: £31,000 SRG arecurrently working with a Biotech company seeking a ResearchAssociate to join their team. Our client aspires to create the nextgeneration of antibody therapeutics, and in doing so, change theprognosis for patients living with life-changing conditions. Roleoverview The initial focus of a successful candidate will be tocarry out laboratory experiments utilising cell culture, flowcytometry, ELISA, imaging, and various assay techniques to supportantibody screening for projects as a key member of the team. Thesuccessful applicant will be a practical person who is organised,pays attention to detail, and efficiently gets the job done.Previous experience in a range of techniques is preferred but isnot essential as training will be provided. Key responsibilities -Bringing energy, enthusiasm and positivity to the company -Maintenance of cell cultures - Techniques such as flow cytometry,fluorescence microscopy and ELISA - Work as a key member of thediscovery team - Performing critical laboratory experiments andanalysing the data to contribute to strategic decision makingwithin the companies’ discovery - Keeping up to date withdevelopments in the literature in relation to technical aspects ofdrug discovery technologies - Day-to-day laboratory management aspart of the team e.g. maintaining a safe and clean workinglaboratory environment, re-ordering laboratory consumables -Establishing and maintaining quality sample archives - Gathering,analysing and presenting data from a variety of sources to thewider team and organization - Critical and impartial review of selfand peer generated laboratory data - Maintenance of laboratoryexperimental records Applicant’s required attributes - A BSc of 2:1level or higher with intercalated year in industrial/academicresearch and/or an MSc/MRes or higher degree with significant labexperience in a relevant discipline (such as Biology, Biochemistry,Pathology, Cell biology, Immunology or Natural Sciences) -Enthusiasm for and commitment to drug discovery and drugdevelopment research - Proven recent experience in: -Mammalian cellculture -Cell biology techniques (such as flow cytometry; ELISA;fluorescence microscopy) - Evidence of excellent organisational andinterpersonal skis including - Ability to work both independentlyand as part of a team - Ability to work efficiently with strongattention to detail - Ability to build effective workingrelationships - Laboratory method development - Ability to workflexible hours when required - Proven written and oralcommunicative ability - Problem-solving skills - Strong IT skills -Desirable skills - Experience in running biological assays onprimary cells and cell lines - Good knowledge ofstatistics
