Consultant Histopathologist in The Midlands

Job Details:

Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum

Contract: Full-time, 10 PAs (with flexibility for part-time applicants)

About the Role

We are seeking a Consultant Histopathologist to join our dedicated team. This is a general histopathology post, with opportunities to develop subspecialty interests. The successful candidate will contribute to diagnostic reporting, multidisciplinary team meetings, teaching, and service development.

Requirements

  • Full registration and licence to practise with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register in Histopathology (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).
  • Applicants that are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • FRCPath (part 1 and part 2).

    Typical Job Plan

    A standard job plan includes:

  • 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week (8.5 DCC / 1.5 SPA)
  • Diagnostic reporting of surgical pathology and cytology specimens
  • Participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
  • Supervision and training of junior medical staff and biomedical scientists
  • Contribution to clinical governance, audits, and quality assurance
  • Involvement in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Support for digital pathology initiatives and service innovation

    The Histopathology Department is a dynamic and forward-thinking unit, currently embracing digital pathology for primary diagnostics. The department provides a comprehensive diagnostic service across a wide range of specialties, including gastrointestinal, breast, dermatopathology, and gynaecological pathology. The team includes experienced consultants, biomedical scientists, and support staff, all committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
