Software Engineering Manager

We're seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented software and firmware engineers developing cutting-edge technologies across MedTech, diagnostics, connected devices, wearables, sensor systems and drug delivery platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong leader who enjoys combining hands-on engineering expertise with people leadership, strategic thinking and project delivery. You'll play a key role in shaping software capability, driving engineering excellence and delivering innovative solutions within a highly regulated development environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As Software Engineering Manager, you will:

Lead, mentor and develop a team of software and firmware engineers, creating a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.

Manage resource allocation, workload planning and performance development for a team of up to 8 direct reports.

Oversee the full software development lifecycle from concept and architecture through development, testing, validation, deployment and support.

Provide technical leadership across software, embedded systems and connected technologies projects.

Ensure software development activities comply with relevant quality and regulatory standards including IEC 62304, ISO 13485 and other applicable requirements.

Drive and embed engineering best practice including code review, version control, CI/CD, automated testing and technical documentation.

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Electronics, Product Design, Quality Assurance and Production to deliver integrated product solutions.

Support customer engagement, proposal development and future business opportunities through technical expertise and leadership.

Champion innovation, continuous improvement and adoption of modern development methodologies and tooling.

What We're Looking For

Essential

Industrial experience in software engineering and technical leadership roles.

Experience managing or leading software development teams.

Strong understanding of software architecture, systems design and software development lifecycle management.

Experience developing embedded software and firmware in industrial or regulated environments.

Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, DevOps and modern software engineering practices.

Experience with embedded C/C++, RTOS environments and hardware/software integration.

Strong stakeholder management, communication and decision-making skills.

Ability to coach, develop and inspire technical teams.

Desirable

Experience within medical devices, healthcare technology or other safety-critical industries.

Knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 13485, GMP and FDA-regulated environments.

Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.

Understanding of cybersecurity for connected devices and IoT systems.

Exposure to AI/ML technologies and data-driven applications.

Experience with mobile, web, IoT, Embedded Linux, Python, FPGA or MATLAB development.
